The Complementary Therapy room and my job would not exist without a wonderful lady

“Thousands of thoughts cross our minds each and every day. We are always busy managing our emotions, solving problems at work or simply figuring out what to eat next. These are regular flowing thoughts, however, it is important to be mindful and to take some time out every once in a while. But the parents and children who come to St Johns Ward can’t afford to take time out. All their thoughts are focused on the next treatment, blood count or procedures. By giving them the opportunity to concentrate on the ‘here and now’ has an incredible power. My job is to try to reduce their enormous stress and anxiety levels by offering complementary therapies without leaving the hospital. Offering multiple therapies like hand and foot reflexology, Indian head and aromatherapy massages, mindfulness, visualisation and breathing techniques. I feel privileged to provide these services and to be able to offer some relief from the reality of dealing with a serious illness.”

“The Complementary Therapy room and my job would not exist without a wonderful lady called Ester who founded the service and without CCF who is supporting the research project behind it.” (You will learn about Ester tomorrow.)

Childhood Cancer Foundation needs our help to keep their projects research and services going. Please consider donating to help CCF and the little heroes in St John’s Ward!
