My disabilities never stopped me in anything that I dedicate myself to

“I’m not only visually impaired with five percent vision but I’m also dyslexic so it’s quite difficult to read, but I still read many books. Text to speech and built in magnifiers on screens help a lot. My disabilities never stopped me in anything that I dedicate myself to. I ran for student union president and later joined a party to run for politics. I’m very curious about technology so I’m part of a coding group where we programme Raspberry Pi and use 3D printers and laser cutters. I have done many things in life that people with vision would never believe possible. But the funny thing is how things come around for people with disabilities. My biggest fear these days is my regular walk from the Hugh Lane Gallery to Parnell Square in the direction of Parnell St. There are these old traffic lights that never beep. So if I’m on my own crossing those lights I can only listen to the busy traffic hoping when I rush through them I will not get hit.”
